XDR Workstation Recommendations

Objective

Computer specifications are constantly evolving, from the old single-core processors to the latest cutting edge multi-core processors.  Keeping up with all the latest changes can be daunting; below are general guidelines for choosing computers to use with the XDR Imaging System.

Design

Below you will find 5 charts.  The Basics chart covers the basic requirements. The next three detail requirements regarding individual versions of Windows Operating Systems.  The final chart reviews optimum monitor specifications for viewing radiographs.

Motherboard Intel Chipset
USB Interface* 2.0 with Windows XP, Vista, 7; 3.0 with Windows 8 or 10
Graphics Card Any current card, or integrated; DVI, HDMI, DP connections preferred
OS Display Settings 96 DPI; Native maximum resolution recommended

 

Windows 8/10

OS Version Professional Version (Vista: Business Edition)
OS Updates NET Version 3.5 (current version recommended)
OS Settings In some cases, UAC must be disabled. (Required for certain PMS Bridges to function)

 

For Windows 7/Vista

OS Version Professional Version (Vista: Business Edition)

CPU Intel Dual-core (minimum); Intel Quad-core (recommended)

Monitor Selection

Brightness 300 cd/m2 (250 cd/m2 on monitors smaller than 19”)
Contrast 1000:1 minimum (“real” Contrast Ration, not “virtual” or “dynamic”)
Resolution 1024×768 or higher
Dual Monitors Supported (Windows Display 1 & 2)

 

Network Connection: For all computers capturing images, a wired network is recommended.
* Powered USB 2.0 Hubs can be used when power or USB circuitry is substandard
